MandaLao Elephant Conservation is an ethical elephant conservation center located in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR. The organization focuses on protecting Asian elephants, ensuring their welfare, and supporting their long-term survival. MandaLao combines responsible management, community involvement, and education.

The center follows a strict no-riding and no-exploitation policy, treating elephants with respect and allowing them to live in a natural forest environment that supports their physical and mental well-being.

Ethical Elephant Care
At MandaLao, elephant welfare is the top priority. Elephants live in a natural forest environment where they can roam, forage, and socialize naturally. Elephant riding, performances, and forced activities are not allowed.

Experienced local mahouts care for the elephants, with veterinary supervision, proper nutrition, and daily health checks. All practices follow internationally recognized animal welfare standards.

 

Conservation and Community Engagement
MandaLao believes that conservation must involve local communities. The organization works closely with mahouts and local villages by providing fair employment, training, and stable income. This approach helps reduce pressures that can lead to forest destruction and elephant exploitation.

Visitor Experiences
